Duration: 7 Day Break
Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK, is the largest
town in the western Highlands. It is situated at the southern
end of the Great Glen, on the shores of Loch Linnhe beneath towering
Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain.
ITINERARY:
Sunday: An early start for our journey to Swallow Hotel on the
outskirts of Carlisle. Stops will be made on the way for refreshments.
Monday: After breakfast, we continue our journey on to Scotland.
Stops will be made at Moffat, Hamilton Services and Tyndrum before
arriving to a warm welcome.
Tuesday: Today our excursion takes us along Loch Ness, which
is 24 miles long, about a mile across and 754ft deep. Keep those
cameras ready in case Nessie appears! We continue on to Inverness,
which is dominated by its Castle.
Wednesday: Today we spend the morning at Glen Coe. In the beauty
of the Glen and the peace of Loch Leven, it is hard to believe
the stories of dark Highland deeds that are told of the area.
The afternoon will be spent in the town of Fort William.
Thursday: It’s on to the coach for our excursion along
the banks of Loch Linnhe to Oban, a busy resort and fishing port
known as the Gateway to the Western Isles.
Friday: We say farewell to our Hotel and Scotland, and make our
way to our overnight stop at the Shap Wells Hotel near Penrith,
calling at Gretna Green on the way.
Saturday: We depart Shap and make our way South and home. Stops
will be made for refreshments. We estimate to be back home mid
evening.
